JASPER — A report of erratic driving late Saturday night resulted in an impaired driving arrest.
The Jasper Police Department was notified at 11:55 p.m. that a yellow Dodge Ram pickup truck that was eastbound on the State Road 162 Bypass was all over the roadway, crossing the centerline and the fog line and appearing unable to maintain speed.
An officer observed the 2000 Dodge travel left of center as it turned northbound on Newton Street. A traffic stop was conducted near Church Avenue after the truck went left of center several more times.
Police allege the driver, Yasmany Alvarez Corvea, 31, 675 Giesler Road, Jasper, exhibited signs of impairment, failed field sobriety testing and had a blood alcohol content that tested .23% at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.
Authorities booked Alvarez Corvea into the Dubois County Security Center at 5:53 a.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated. He posted bond Sunday night.
