PATOKA LAKE — A Floyd County man was charged with impaired driving after an accident reported early Monday at the Patoka Lake Fishermen’s Campground Boat Ramp.
An Indiana Department of Natural Resources conservation officer called to the ramp at 12:20 a.m. arrived to find the glow of submerged headlights in the lake.
The conservation officer reported that Asad Zahir, 33, Georgetown, accidentally drove his 2019 Ford F-150 off the ramp and into the lake. Zahir’s blood alcohol content allegedly tested .176% in a certified test conducted later at the Jasper Police Station.
Authorities booked Zahir into the Dubois County Security Center at 3:37 a.m. Monday. He was formally charged later that day with misdemeanor operating while intoxicated, OWI (endangerment) and OWI with an alcohol concentration of .15% or more and was released from jail on his own recognizance.
