OWI arrest follows unsafe driving report

From Local Sources

JASPER — A report Saturday afternoon of a vehicle being operated in an unsafe manner resulted in an impaired driving arrest.

At 2:17 p.m., a caller reported a car was driving erratically, had run into a curb and had bumped into a rear of a vehicle in a fast food restaurant’s drive-through. A Jasper Police Department officer got behind the 2002 Mercury Sable that was the subject of the report and stopped it at Seventh and Bartley streets after observing it go into the oncoming lane of traffic and nearly strike a parked vehicle.

Police said the driver, Sandra K. Cox, 66, 274 Third Ave., Jasper, had a blood alcohol level that tested .22% at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.

Authorities booked Cox into the Dubois County Security Center at 5:54 p.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated.
