FERDINAND — Police took an Owen County woman into custody Friday evening after responding to the report of a possible intoxicated driver on I-64.
Authorities were told at 6:37 p.m. to observe for a reckless, possible drunk driver who had been reported by numerous people in Perry and Dubois counties and who was westbound from the area of the St. Croix exit, according to the Ferdinand Police Department.
An officer identified the 2016 Mitsubishi sedan matching the description in the reports, observed traffic violations and stopped it west of the Ferdinand exit.
During the investigation, police determined the driver, Amanda N. Rangel, 27, Gosport, had consumed alcohol throughout the day at a company Christmas party.
Testing placed Rangel’s blood alcohol content at .161%.
Authorities booked Rangel into the Dubois County Security Center at 10:31 p.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated. Rangel posted bond Saturday afternoon.
