OWI arrest follows Huntingburg traffic stop

From Local Sources

HUNTINGBURG — A Saturday night traffic stop resulted in a motorist being taken to jail accused of impaired driving.

A Huntingburg Police Department officer observed a black Chevrolet Avalanche pickup truck turn northbound on Main Street from Sixth Street without stopping for a red light at 9 p.m. Police said the driver, Jesse W. Hall, 36, 202 E. 22nd St., Huntingburg, took off at a high rate of speed with the truck’s rear tires breaking traction and the vehicle kicking sideways.

During a subsequent traffic stop at 11th and Main streets, an officer reported smelling the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Hall’s person. His blood alcohol content tested .169% in a certified chemical test at the Huntingburg Police Station, according to police.

Authorities booked Hall into the Dubois County Security Center at 12:19 a.m. Sunday on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated. He was given a date to report to court and released on his own recognizance Sunday afternoon.
