OWI accusation follows man’s failure to dim

HUNTINGBURG — A man who allegedly failed to dim his headlights early Sunday when encountering an Indiana State Police trooper went to jail accused of impaired driving.

The trooper stopped that 2007 Buick driven by Joseph E. Fransted, 48, 207 Walnut St., Huntingburg, at 2:40 a.m. near U.S. 231 and Sunset Drive.

Fransted allegedly had a BAC of .20 percent when tested at the Huntingburg Police Station.

Authorities booked Fransted into the Dubois County Security Center at 3:33 a.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated. He posted bond Sunday afternoon.
