OWI accusation follows failure to stop

PATOKA LAKE — A man who allegedly failed to come to a complete stop at an intersection south of Cuzco near Patoka Lake was taken into custody on a pair of criminal accusations Sunday afternoon.

A Department of Natural Resources conservation officer stopped a 2011 GMC Sierra driven by Kenneth E. Harris, 57, 11022 S. State Road 145, Birdseye, at 3:55 p.m. after Harris’ northbound vehicle reportedly failed to stop at Cuzco Road South and State Road 545.

Harris’ blood alcohol content allegedly tested .118% in a certified test at the Jasper Police Station. Police also determined Harris was classified as a habitual traffic violator.

Authorities booked Harris into the Dubois County Security Center at 5:28 p.m. on preliminary charges of Level 5 felony operating a motor vehicle after forfeiture of license for life and misdemeanor operating while intoxicated.
