Overdose call results in drug arrest

JASPER — A Wednesday night report of an overdose resulted in a woman’s arrest.
Authorities were called at 10:02 p.m. in reference to a male who had overdosed in a residence in the 300 block of West Fourth Street.
While the man was transported for medical treatment, police who reported smelling the odor of marijuana in the residence spoke with resident Eugenia L. Neukam, 46, 317 W. Fourth St., who they described as being intoxicated.
After seeking and securing a search warrant, police reported locating marijuana, a glass smoking pipe with burnt marijuana in it, methamphetamine, a prescription pill, a syringe and additional items of paraphernalia.
Authorities booked Neukam into the Dubois County Security Center at 3:29 a.m. today on preliminary charges of Level 6 felony possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a syringe, illegal possession of a legend (prescription) drug and maintaining a common nuisance, plus misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office, Jasper Volunteer Fire Department and Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services assisted.
