Our Town: Zoar

Congratulations to Brandon Goeppner. He has been named to the first-team Wrestling Academic All-State team. Brandon is a senior at Pike Central High School. He is the son of Jason and Beth Goeppner.

EPIC met Wednesday evening with 28 youth and 12 adults. This week they will have a potato bar for their evening meal.

Southridge High School presented Rogers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” from Thursday evening through Sunday. It was an excellent production and a pleasure to watch. Good job!

Randy and Lynette Langebrake attended a fifth birthday party for their granddaughter, Laney Ray on Sunday, Feb. 23, at Laney’s home in Santa Claus. The theme of the party was “Llama Fiesta.” The children played pin the tail on the llama and had a piñata to enjoy. Also attending were her other grandparents, Doug and Lori Collins; her great-grandmother, Marilyn Vantlin; and several cousins and a handful of friends. Laney is the daughter of Sam and Haley Collins, Santa Claus.

Word has been received of the death of former Holland and Zoar United Methodist minister, Ron Lawhead. The Lawheads served the Holland and Zoar churches from 1992-1999.

Laura Hemmer, Cincinnati, spent Thursday through Monday here with family and friends. 

The Holland Community World Day of Prayer will be held at St. Paul United Church of Christ at noon Friday, March 6. A light lunch will be served following the service.

The Sunday evening Lenten service will be held at Holland UMC. A light supper will be served at 5:30 p.m. followed by the service.
