Doug, Alaina and Saoirse Hall, Casper, Wyoming, and Jesse Norman, St. Louis, Missouri, arrived last Wednesday to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with their family. They left to begin the trip home on Saturday.
Laura Hemmer, Cincinnati, spent Thanksgiving here with her family.
The Tim Hilsmeyer family hosted the Hilsmeyer family Thanksgiving at their home on Sunday. Guests who shared the day were Tom Hilsmeyer, Jasper; McKenzie Hilsmeyer, Indianapolis; Ryan and Brook Harris and son, Nolan, Nashville, Tennessee; Ryan and Jamie Krick and sons, Houston and Harrison, Jeffersonville; Keith and Denise Oser and Travis and Kate LaMar, Holland; Ryan and Meagan McKain and daughter, Blake, Evansville; Jayne McKain, Bryan and Lindsey McKain and son, Jaxon, and daughter, Brie, Boonville; Cassie Miller and son, Blake, Dubois. Ms. Miller is the fiancé of Justin Hilsmeyer.
Chase and Malin Hilsmeyer, Evansville, hosted their family’s Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. Those attending were Diane Leon, Lake Helmerich Village, Scott, Kristina Reed and daughters, Veronica and Slone, Crestwood, Kentucky, and Mike and Angela Connelly, Evansville. Forty-four family members shared the Thanksgiving Day noon meal at Meadowtop Farm Thursday. Two new babies joined the family this past year so the family continues to grow. Many members of the family returned Friday to bake Christmas cookies. I’ve been given the information that 1,990 cookies were baked.
The class of Stendal High School 1961 had their annual class reunion at Cakes and Coffee in Petersburg, Saturday. Class members attending the event were Carrol Aust, Don Eilert, Edgar Katterhenry, Eric “Bud” Meyer, Linda (Corn) Miller, Karen (Beadles) Bedwell, Diane (Hilsmeyer) Leon, Judy (Kamman) Heilman. Class members unable to attend were Sandra (Bilderback) Beck and Dawn Rademacher. A former classmate who attended was Barbara (Houchin) Krieg. Deceased members of the class are Judith Tisdale, Nina (Buse) Kamman and Imogene Houchin.
Sunday was the first Sunday of Advent. The church has been beautifully decorated for Christmas and the children’s Christmas party was the first party to be held on Sunday. The children had lunch and then among other activities they had a $5 gift exchange.
The Holland Kiwanis Christmas party for children will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Holland Elementary School.
The United Methodist Women’s Christmas party this year will be a progressive dinner that will take place in three different homes. The women will be leaving the church at 11 a.m. Anyone who wishes to do so may ride the church bus.
The Pairs and Spares will have their Christmas gathering at 5 p.m. Sunday at Shoney’s in Jasper. The cost of the meal will be $5.
The date for Christmas caroling has been set for Dec. 22. Anyone wishing to be a part of it should meet at the church at 3 p.m. Following the caroling, the Brockriede’s will have food and fellowship at their home.
