Our Town: Zoar

By DOLORES HEMMER

Becky and Ron Brockriede hosted a Fourth of July party at their home on Wednesday. The group enjoyed a lot of good food, games and fireworks.

Mike, Tai and Hudson Muldoon of Richmond spent the weekend with their grandmother, Delores Hemmer.

This is church camp week at Santa Claus. Zoar has several campers, counselors, junior counselors and tag-a–longs going to camp.

A lot of softball will take place this week at Holland Park. The Zoar men will be playing three games — 7 p.m. today, Dale Bible Church; 7 p.m. Thursday, Holland United Methodist Church; and 8 p.m. Thursday, St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

The annual Red Cross blood drive will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, at the Holland United Methodist Church. Schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-733-2767. The event is sponsored by the Holland and Zoar United Methodist Churches and St. James Lutheran Church.

The Mosquito Fest is rapidly drawing near. There are many jobs to be done and much help will be needed. Anyone having fresh garden vegetables (peppers, onions, cucumbers or potatoes) that they could donate should let someone know they are available. This year’s festival is Aug. 3 and 4.
