Our Town: Zoar

The following were winners during Thursday’s Halloween party at the church: prettiest, Charlie Merter; cutest, Brailee Brockriede; ugliest, Corey Goeppner; scariest, Colton Parr; most original, Amerynn Fetter; best overall, Breanna and Emily Nichols; and best couple, Brandon Goeppner and Alize Padgett. The winners of the candy-guessing contests were Spencer Barrett and Halie Brock. Both guessed within one of having the exact number. The large jar contained 128 pieces and the small container had 64 pieces of candy.

The mission team has returned from their trip to Jamaica. Pastor Keith Chanley was part of that mission team.

Laura Hemmer, Cincinnati, spent several days here with her family. She returned home on Tuesday.

The Thanksgiving supper will be held at the church on Sunday evening. Turkey and dressing will be furnished. Those attending should bring salads, vegetables or desserts to complete the meal. The meal will be served at 6 p.m.

The community Thanksgiving supper will be held Sunday, Nov. 24. More information will follow soon.

The time for the fall flea market at Stendal is approaching. Fifty-five tables have been rented and there are many items to choose from. The date of this year’s event is Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Lockhart Township Community Center. Food, provided by friends and family of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, will be available all day beginning with breakfast from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. and lunch from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Stendal is located in southern Pike County near the Dubois and Pike County line, 10 miles west of Huntingburg.
