Our Town: Zoar

The EPIC group met Wednesday evening with 41 youth and 19 adults. They are taking a two-week break and will return Nov. 6 to fill shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child at that time.

The Southern Belles had lunch Thursday at the Overlook Restaurant near Leavenworth. Seven members were able to gather and enjoy the beautiful autumn day.

Cheryl Hilsmeyer traveled to Center City, Kentucky, Thursday to visit her friend Coneathea Drake. The women were joined by Coneathea’s sister, Norma, for lunch and some shopping.  They visited Coneathea’s mother, Dimple Prior, in Drakesboro, Kentucky.

The 80th birthday of Allen Bilderback was recognized with a party, Sunday, at the Village Inn, Petersburg.  Guests attending were Beverly Hartley and Shanna Hartley, Oakland City, Steve and Linda Bilderback, Mt. Vernon, John and Becky Bilderback and Haley Bilderback, St. Windell, Bill and Kathy Bartelt, Newburgh, Lester Oxley, Dale and Dixie Reller, Stendal, Justin, Meagan and Brantley Bayer, Huntingburg, Ben Weber, Indianapolis, Lee and Allen Bilderback, Holland. Allen was born 80 years ago at the home of his grandparents in Petersburg.

Mike and Tai Muldoon and sons, Hudson and Easton, Richmond, spent Saturday through Monday with their grandmother, Delores Hemmer, at the family farm.

The Halloween party will be held Thursday in the church basement. The short-order supper will be served beginning at 6:30 p.m.  Chicken soup, chili, burgers, chips and dessert will be offered. Costume judging will be at 7:30 p.m. in the following categories: prettiest, ugliest, religious, cutest, most original and best overall. Cash prizes will be awarded.
