The Southern Belles Homemakers had lunch on Thursday at Woopenheimers in Haysville. Seven members were able to attend.
In conjunction with the 175th anniversary of the church coming up Oct. 13, I will be putting in a short item each week relating to the history of the church. The present church is the third church on or near the present site. The first church was a log church that stood in what is now called the grove. Fire destroyed that building as the new 1871 church was being built, 200 paces north of the log church. The 1871 church was replaced by the present day church in 1949. Oct. 13 promises to be an exciting day so make plans now to join us for the 9 a.m. service.
The Weitkamp reunion will be held Sunday, Sept. 1, at the church. If you are a member of the Weitkamp family, plan now to attend this interesting reunion. Bring any family updates with you such as births, marriages and deaths so that the history of the family can be kept current.
The Zoar Cemetery Board will have its annual meeting at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, at the church.
Confirmation classes will begin Sept. 18. If you are a seventh-grade student or are older, but have not attended Confirmation class, now is the time to sign up. There is a sign-up sheet at the church or you may call the church office 812-536-4862.
If you have an item that you would like to have in the Zoar News, you may contact me at 812-536-2920. Please have items to me by 6 p.m. Sunday.
