Suzi Hemmer has been appointed to serve as pastor at Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church near Lynnville. She will assume her duties on Aug. 1. Suzi and her husband, Steve, reside in Jasper.

The Southern Belles Homemakers Club met Thursday at Agave in Ferdinand for their monthly luncheon. Seven members were present.

Recipes are still being sought for the church cookbook for the 175th anniversary. Recipes need to be turned in by the end of the week. Recipes may be emailed to maleawagner14@gmail.com or see either Debbie Frick or Ruth Ann Blackgrove. Books at $15 each can now be preordered.

Entries for the quilt show at the Mosquito Fest need to be entered beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday. The categories of pieced, appliquéd, embroidery, comforters, old, child’s quilts and wall hanging will be judged by people’s choice. The quilt does not have to have been made by the exhibitor. The quilts may be viewed after the judging is finished. Entries are still being sought for the stationary parade. The Mosquito Fest will be held Friday and Saturday at Zoar.
