The Southern Belles Extension Homemakers Club met in Evansville on Thursday for lunch. They exchanged secret pal gifts and drew names for the coming year that began in June. All members attended and a former member was a guest.

The annual church conference of the United Methodist Church was held this week in Indianapolis. Pastor Keith Chanley and delegate Kim Wampler attended the event.

A Father’s Day luncheon was held Sunday at the Meece home in Huntingburg. Those attending in addition to the host family were Amber Brockriede and children, Jeremy and Erin Marshall and family, Ron and Becky Brockriede and Delores Hemmer.

Vacation Bible school began Monday evening here at Zoar and will continue through Thursday night. This year’s school is based in Athens, Greece, in 51 A.D. Many educational and fun things are planned for the children.

The men of the church were recognized Sunday morning with a gift during the morning worship service for Father’s Day.

The Uhl Pottery collector’s convention begins Friday evening in Huntingburg.

Teams are being sought for the Wiffleball Classic at this year’s Mosquito Fest. The dates are Aug. 2 and 3. There are three age groups for teams of youth, junior and adult. To register a team or for more information, contact Gaage Fetter at 812-639-7910 or T.J. Reese at 812-639-7957.

A cookbook is being planned by the United Methodist Women of Zoar, in conjunction with the 175th anniversary celebration of the church in October. Recipes may be submitted to maleawagner14@gmail.com or given to Ruth Blackgrove or Debbie Frick. The recipes are needed no later than Aug. 1.
