Our Town: Zoar

Kathryn Charles, wife of Reverend Rex Charles, pastor at Zoar and Holland United Methodist churches from 2010-12, died March 28 at home. Services were held Friday and she was buried at Zoar.

EPIC was well attended Wednesday evening with 45 youth and 17 adults. The menu for this Wednesday evening included chicken Alfredo, salad and garlic bread. EPIC is beginning to wind down for the summer with only three or four more meetings.

Zoar has acquired a nice church van through the conference. It will be helpful for many different needs of the church.

Mike and Tai Muldoon and sons, Hudson and Easton, of Richmond, spent the weekend here with their grandmother, Delores Hemmer.

Christopher Gale Davis celebrated his first birthday on Saturday among family and friends at the Winslow Community Center in Winslow. Several family members from here attended. Christopher is the son of Courtney and Bethani Davis and the grandson of Chris and Cindy Rothrock. Local great-grandparents are Ron and Becky Brockriede.
Sunday is Palm Sunday and there will be five young ladies that will be confirmed during the morning worship service.

The Zoar United Methodist Women will be having a bake sale beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at the IGA in Huntingburg. There will be a lot of goodies for your Easter table.
The Zoar UMC will be celebrating their 175th anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 13, with a morning commemorative service. A catered meal will be served at noon. More details will be given at a later date, but mark your calendars now for this special service.
