A number of persons from the area attended the wedding reception for Kyle and Tara Frick at the Vanderburgh County 4-H Fairgrounds Auditorium in Evansville on Saturday evening. The couple was married earlier in the day. The groom is the son of Ray and Debbie Frick.

The Huntingburg Music Club met at Zoar last Tuesday evening. The music for the evening was “Spiritual Blessings.” The serving tables were decorated with shamrocks and a “green” theme was used in the serving of food. Plans are progressing for the 2019 Mosquito Fest. A meeting was held Sunday.

The Holland Events Committee has an interesting day planned in Holland on Saturday, April 13. — a Dutch American Friendship Day. Activities will be held in and near the Holland Commons. Family fun games will begin at 9 a.m. led by Jeremy Marshall and fourth-graders from Holland Elementary School. Cow- and Dutch-themed prizes will awarded. At 11 a.m., an area south of The Commons will be named Holland Prairie. At this time, four head of life-sized cattle — not real — will be placed in the Prairie. The cattle — a Guernsey calf and three Holsteins — are symbolic of the Holland Guernsey Club of the 1920s. Later, the Holland dairy symbol became the Holstein breed — thus the past, present and future will be represented. Prairie Farms gave the cattle as a gift to the town and have been instrumental in backing and contributing to the Holland Commons and the Prairie project. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and a bake sale featuring cinnamon strip coffee cakes is planned. On Friday, prior to the event, fresh-cut tulips will be presented to several individuals and businesses that have been helpful in community service in the Holland area. Everyone is welcome to the Dutch American Friendship Day.

The Lenten supper and service will be held at Holland United Methodist Church on Sunday evening with the meal at 5:30 p.m. and the service at 6 p.m.

There are a number of Lenten events coming up. Palm Sunday, April 14, will be Confirmation Sunday. The service at Zoar United Methodist Church will begin at 9 a.m. The Seder meal with Communion will take place April 16 at Holland UMC, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The community Good Friday service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, April 19, at Zoar UMC. A choir made up of singers from various churches will be singing. Easter sunrise service will be held at 7 a.m. Sunday, April 21, at St. Paul United Church of Christ and at 9 a.m. Easter Sunday, April 21, at Zoar UMC.
