EPIC met March 20 with 43 youth and 20 adults. Jenelle Schwindel was the speaker for the evening. There will be no EPIC this week due to spring break at school.
The Southern Belles Homemakers met March 21 at Coffee and Cakes in Petersburg. Diane Leon was the hostess. Members attending were Dixie Reller, Diane Leon, Pam Thomas, Mary Pyle, Becky Brockriede, Janie Meyer and Delores Hemmer. Becky Brockriede will be the April hostess.
Todd Horton, Evansville, picked up several boxes of Bibles and dictionaries for Love Packages from Sandra Hopf in Jasper on March 20. He also picked up Bibles and literature from Dean and Fern Trummel. The shipment included 43 new New Testaments along with boxes of Bibles and 300 New Life books. Gary Hall helped load the Bibles and literature. Todd will deliver the load plus other pieces he will pick up to Love Packages in Butler, Illinois. This will then be delivered to teachers and pastors in poverty stricken countries who have very little material to work with. Many people in these areas are hungry for the word of God and it means so much to have a Bible all their own. Ofer Levy, a Jews for Jesus missionary from Israel, will present a program about the Jewish Passover celebration on April 16 at the Holland United Methodist Church. Persons attending the last one, given in 2016, got to participate in the Seder meal as the elements and their significance were explained. This meal is representative of the meal that Jesus and his disciples would have eaten and is still eaten by Jewish people during Passover. Plan now to attend this special event that takes place during Holy Week.
The Lenten service will be held at Zoar Sunday evening with supper served at 5:30 p.m. and the Lenten study to begin about 6 p.m.
The United Methodist Women will hold their spring gathering at Simpson UMC in Evansville on Saturday, April 13, beginning at 9 a.m. Brunch will be served at 10:30 a.m. If you would like to attend, let Ruth Blackgrove know.
