Andrew Meece and his parents traveled to Indianapolis last weekend to the Indianapolis School for the Blind and Visually Blind, so that Andrew might compete in the Braille Challenge. Word was received on Thursday evening of this week that he placed second, in his age group, in the state. Andrew is the son of Jeff and Natalie Meece, Huntingburg.
Suzie Hemmer was injured in a traffic accident Tuesday morning at the edge of Jasper. She and a friend were returning home after attending the Tuesday morning Bible study at Zoar. A semi struck their vehicle causing injuries and a lot of damage to her vehicle.
EPIC met Wednesday evening with 39 youth and 19 adults. The menu for Wednesday evening’s supper will be fish nuggets, macaroni and cheese, broccoli, green beans and gelatin.
Josh Hemmer was sworn in on Feb. 28 as a deputy for the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department. Josh has been involved in law enforcement for some time. He grew up in the Zoar community and is the son of John and Janet Hemmer of Zoar.
The date has been set for the spring flea market at Stendal. It will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at the Stendal Community Center. Many tables have been rented so there should be something for everyone. Food will be available all day beginning with breakfast starting at 7:30 a.m. Stendal is located in Pike County ten miles west of Huntingburg. There is no admission charge.
The Lenten service on Sunday evening will be at the Zoar United Methodist Church with supper at 5:30 p.m. and the study beginning at 6 p.m. Lenten services are alternating between the two churches.
Save the dates for the Putting Against Cancer Golf Scramble on May 11 and the Steve Hunter Co-ed Classic softball tourney on May 18. More details will be available as the time for the events draws closer.
