Our Town: Zoar

Word has been received of the deaths of a former pastor’s wife — Nancy Lawhead —and a former pastor — Rev. Marvin Roeder — of the Zoar and Holland United Methodist churches. The Lawheads served the churches from 1992 to 1999. The Roeders served the churches from 1989 to 1992. Cards and condolences may be sent to Ron Lawhead, 293 Mount Drive, Apartment 308, Sevierville, TN 37876, and Mary Jane Roeder, 2333 W. Roeder Road, Boonville, IN 47601.

Congratulations to Natalie and Robert Weintraub of Indianapolis on the birth of their daughter, Vivian. She was born Jan. 15, 2019, Vivian weighed 6 pounds, 15 ounces and was 20 ½ inches long. Robert “Bomber” and Sandy Rodenhouse are the grandparents and Alice Ann Sattler is the great-grandmother. This is the couple’s first child.

The Southridge wrestling team won its sectional on Saturday at Memorial Gym. The team will now advance to regionals this Saturday. Brandon Goeppner from Pike Central also advanced to regionals at Bloomington Saturday.

Bill Nance fell recently and broke a small bone in his back. He is suffering some discomfort. Please keep them in prayer.

The Mosquito Fest Committee met Sunday and will be seeking sponsors for the Color Run for this year’s festival. The musical groups for the Mosquito Fest have been selected and signed. The dates for this year’s fest are Aug. 3 and 4.

The Lockhart Township Community Club held its annual meeting on Sunday at the community center. A soup luncheon was served.
