Dixie Reller hosted a luncheon at her home Thursday for the Southern Belles Club. This was a planning session for the remainder of the year. The Belles are no longer an extension club, but they will remain a homemaker club.
The Halloween party at the church was held Thursday evening. The costume winners were prettiest, Harper Ferguson, Belle; cutest, Charlie Merter, little scarecrow; ugliest, John Marcum, swamp monster; funniest, Tucker Ferguson, dinosauer; most original, Riede, Beau and Jenelle Schwindel, Pac Men; and best overall, Vivian Frasure and Parker Goeppner, Bonnie and Clyde. Winners in the candy guessing contest were Brandon Goeppner and Parker Goeppner. There was a tie in both contests; the brothers won in the tie breaker.
Mike and Tai Muldoon and sons, Hudson and Easton, Richmond, arrived Friday evening to spend the weekend with their grandmother, Delores Hemmer, and other family members.
The marriage of Zachary Langebrake and Katlyn Braunecker took place Saturday evening at the Redemption Christian Church in Jasper. A reception followed at KlubHaus 61. Parents of the bridal couple are Randy and Lynette Langebrake, Rick and Kara Braunecker and Clayton and Mary Billings.
A group from Zoar went to Stendal Sunday evening for a Halloween trunk-or-treat at the old Stendal store.
The town of Holland will hold its Halloween party on Halloween night at the Holland Elementary School. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m.; costume judging will begin at 6 p.m. Cash prizes will be given in the categories of prettiest, scariest and most original. Age divisions are 0-2, 3-5, K-2, 3-5, 6-12, adult, group and overall. A pumpkin decorating contest will be part of the fun and the entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. on the day of the party. Two divisions will be judged — adult and children. There will be a cake walk and door prizes. This is the 32nd annual celebration.
The Thanksgiving family night supper will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at the church. Turkey, dressing and potatoes will be provided. Those attending are asked to bring a salad, vegetable or dessert.
Zoar will be part of the Holland area churches that will be joining together for a community Thanksgiving meal. The event will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, at the Holland Elementary School.
