Laura Hemmer arrived Friday to spend the Labor Day weekend with family members.
Rose Brang, Cheryl Hilsmeyer and Kim Wampler returned on Saturday from a vacation cruise. The women flew to New Orleans last Sunday and boarded their cruise ship on Monday. They spent time in Cozumel and also visited Progresso, Mexico. The ladies saw many interesting sights and returned home late Saturday night.
Several from the area attended Labor Day celebrations over the long holiday weekend.
The Weitkamp reunion was held Sunday in the church basement. Sixty-nine people were in attendance. Officers for the coming year were chosen and they are Jeff Wellmeyer, president; Robie Weitkamp, vice president; and Ruth Carlisle, secretary-treasurer. The family had eight births, four marriages and five deaths this past year.
The Holland Fest will be held Sept. 14, 15 and 16 at the Holland Park. Zoar will be having a stand at the fest and workers are needed. In conjunction with the festival, a worship service will be held in the park on Sunday morning, Sept. 16, with the local churches participating. Zoar will have no worship at the church on that Sunday, but will be attending the worship at the park.
Everything is Possible in Christ is returning now that school is back in session. The first meeting will be Sept. 19. Grades one through 12 are invited to take part in this time of fun and learning.
A team from Zoar will be going to Santa Claus to help pack meals for Feed My Starving Children on Sept. 21. If you would like to be a part of the team contact Becky Brockriede at the church office. There are jobs for ages 5 and older.
The 11th annual Pike County tractor drive is Saturday, Sept. 22. For additional information, contact Bud Meyer at 812-499-2617. The entry fee is $20 per tractor and includes a DVD of the drive.
A benefit meal and silent auction will be held for Dena Kamman-Rasche on Sunday, Sept. 30, at the Teen Outback in Huntingburg. Tickets for the barbecued chicken dinners are $10 and are being sold through Sept. 23. They must be purchased in advance. The meal pick-up is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 30. The silent auction will be going on at this time as well. Tickets can be purchased by calling 812-630-6543.
