A drive-thru baby shower was held Saturday at the Henke Pavilion in Holland Park for Kate Oser Lamar. Gift bags were given to the guests. Some of the gift bags were made especially for the children and some for the adults. The guest of honor received some nice things for the expected arrival.
Andie Jane Merter was baptized Sunday morning during the worship service. Andie is the daughter of Jared and Jordon Merter and was born Feb. 22. She has a big sister, Charlie Marie. The proud grandparents are Tim and Janie Meyer, Geralyn and Kevin Jochem and Dave Merter. Great-grandparents are Mary Lou Bohnenkemper, Dorothy Merder and Ellen Jochem. Pastor Keith Chanley officiated.
An outdoor graduation party was held Sunday evening for Grace Meece at the home of her grandparents, Bill and Jean Meece of rural Huntingburg. Grace is the daughter of Jeff and Natalie Meece.
Jim Wagner surprised his wife, Ma Lea, on her 32nd birthday on Sunday. The party was held at the home of an aunt and uncle, Harv and Dorita Frick, Zoar. Several family members attended including Kyle, Tara and Crawford Frick of Evansville.
The Aug. 8 drive-thru meal that will replace this year’s Mosquito Fest will be available from 4 to 8 p.m. The meal will consist of smoked pork chops, German potato salad and baked beans. Cinnamon coffee cakes will be available for sale as well as the popular homemade ice cream. The ice cream will be packaged in pint containers and there will be 10 flavors to choose from including vanilla, peanut butter chocolate chip, Oreo, butter pecan, orange-pineapple, banana, lemon, coconut almond, pistachio and German chocolate cake batter. All care will be taken to keep everyone safe including masks and social distancing as much as possible.
In softball games this week at Holland Park, the Zoar women will be playing Holland UMC at 7 p.m. Tuesday and the Zoar men will play Holland UMC at 7 p.m. Thursday evening.
