Streetfest 2020 meeting

Please join us at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 2, in the basement of Happy Hour Sports Bar & Grill for a Streetfest 2020 planning meeting. Streetfest 2020 will be held on Saturday, June 27. We ask someone from all areas of the fest attend to give a brief report on their plans and needs for the 2020 event. If you want to get involved with helping plan the fest for 2020, this would be a great meeting to attend and step up to help keep this amazing fest going!

While it is possible this meeting will be canceled due to the COVID-19 threat, we have to proceed with business as planned and hope the threat will have passed. We will monitor the situation and get the word out about the meeting being canceled if that needs to happen.

Additionally, if you have anything you want to talk about before the meeting there will be an officers’ planning meeting a few days before the public meeting, just reach out to me.

Thank you for helping make Streetfest a success!

We ask that each of the main organizations that play major roles (and will receive future distributions from the profits)  — Celestine Community Club, Celestine Park, Knights of Columbus, Northeast Dubois PTO, Celestine Volunteer Fire Department and St. Isidore Parish — have one or two members on hand to take notes and report back to their organizations.

Things are coming together quickly for this year’s event! Items on the agenda include: schedule review and brainstorming, entertainment, new event ideas, chairperson and committee reports, areas where help or leadership is needed and an open call new ideas and suggestions.

Dubois Branch Library is closed at least until April 1. There will be no programing until at least after April 5.  Please watch for further updates.

A note from Fr. Read

Dear all,

Bishop Siegel has notified us stating that all weekend and weekday Masses are suspended until further notice. This is certainly a difficult thing to endure and obviously something that we have not personally experienced before but it is nothing new for the Church. The Church has endured plagues and crisis like this in the past. And many good and holy bishops have suspended Mass before in order to protect the faithful and mitigate a viral spread.  It’s not fear, its prudence.

I will be offering a private Mass every day for the normal Mass intentions including any particular prayer requests you may have. Please feel free to call me at 812-634-1875 or email jread@evdio.org or contact Deacon Mike at 812-482-1886 or mseibert@evdio.org.

The churches will be open for private prayer and Eucharistic Adoration at both locations will continue with increased hours at St. Raphael extending from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. We will have papers at the entrances by Wednesday to sign up for adoration times every week on Wednesday at St. Raphael church (6 a.m.-9 p.m.) and Fridays at St. Celestine Church (4 p.m.-11 p.m.). Families are being called to be renewed and strengthened by our Eucharistic Lord outside of Mass and Holy Communion.

Ordinary communion to the homebound will be suspended at this time. Baptisms, weddings, and funerals will all take place outside of Mass. Immediate family only.

I will be available for confessions at the usual confession times in church. Tuesday night, 6-6:30 p.m. at SC; Wednesday, 7:30-8 a.m. at SR; Friday, 7:30-8 a.m. at SC; Saturday, 4-4:30 p.m. at SR; Sunday, 7:30-8 a.m. at SC; Sunday, 9:30-10 a.m. at SR. If feeling ill, please stay home to avoid spreading of disease.

I will also be present in the church on the weekend during the time when we’d normally be having Mass. I’ll be available for conversation or individual prayer (social distancing free of charge).

Parish office hours will remain the same of 8:30 a.m. till 4 p.m. at the Celestine Campus. Mailing address St. Isidore Parish P.O. Box 1 Celestine, IN 47521 and phone 812-634-1875. Bulletins or newsletter will be available on the website and at the entrances to the churches. There are black drop boxes on both campuses for your convenience as well. Please continue to pray and let us know what we can do for you.

God Bless,

Fr. Jeff Read
