Parish bus trip
Mark your calendars and plan to join us on Monday, May 4, for the first St. Isidore Parish bus trip of 2020.
Destinations will include New Harmony, Mount Vernon and the west side of Evansville. Departure will be in late morning after an early lunch at home.
In New Harmony, the group will see a film and village models to orient everyone to the history of the town. A step-on guide will accompany the group for a tour. The tour will include some of the buildings that remain from the early settlements, the roofless church, the labyrinth and the National Historic District.
After a few hours in New Harmony, travel will continue to Mount Vernon, the county seat of Posey County. At the Artisan Bliss Restaurant, which overlooks the Ohio River, the meal will include a sandwich wrap and chips. (At a later date, it will be asked the type of wrap and specialty ice cream to order.)
On Evansville’s West Side, Fr. John Brosmer is the pastor of St. Boniface Parish, which consists of three campuses. Participants will visit with Father and see the grotto beneath St. Boniface Church. Participants will then go to the Sacred Heart campus about 1 mile away to attend the church’s regularly scheduled Monday evening Mass with Father Tyler Tenbarge and see the Fr. Deydier House of Discernment where a number of young men from the Evansville Diocese live while discerning whether they have a vocation to the priesthood.
Following this full day of activities, the group will return to Celestine late in the evening.
The total cost of the trip (coach fare, food, tips and donations) will be $65. Anyone signing up and later realizing that they cannot go, they are to understand that $30 of this amount will be transferrable to someone else, but not refundable, due to contracted amounts that must be paid.
