The one-night sheephead tourneys on Fridays will continue tonight and March 6 at the club. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., play begins at 7 p.m. Food and refreshments will be available. The tourneys are open to the public.
The next Youth Appeal will be Saturday and Sunday at all Masses at St. Isidore Parish. More and more youth are attending the events the parish offers and the cost also has risen. Some of these events include Catholic Heart Work Camp, Pilgrimage for Life, Teens Encounter Christ and National Catholic Youth Conference. They want to thank you for your generosity and hope to continue to grow the youth ministry.
Celestine DSA Award
Congratulations to Bob Schnell, who was named the 2020 recipient of the Celestine Park Distinguished Service Award. Schnell was one of seven nominees this year and was selected by the park in recognition of years of devoted service to the Celestine community.
Schnell was presented the award by Celestine Park President Chris Bieker and Master of Ceremony Kevin Knies at a recognition breakfast on Sunday at the St. Celestine Hall. His wife, Cheryl, son, Chad, and daughter, Krista, were present along with several of his family members and grandkids.
Congratulations to Bob, along with the other nominees, namely, Sally Brosmer, Sharon Johnson, Dallas Knies, Allen Luebbehusen, Doug Merkel and Christine Sander.
Bob’s nomination included recognizing him for being past president of the Celestine Community Club, St. Celestine Parish Council member, vice president of the Celestine 150th celebration and president of the Celestine Streetfest for its first five years amongst other service and leadership roles.
Sunday was the 28th annual awarding of the DSA with a large number of past recipients on hand to be recognized. Past winners include Leonard Heeke, Loretta Humbert, Don Sander, Ottie Betz, Ron Sander, Barney Heldman, Ed Senninger, Mike Klem, Margaret Buechler, Art Kempf, Glenda Reckelhoff, Melvin Betz, Ed Betz, Martha Goepfrich, Pat Hasenour, Clarence Buechler, Jim Sander, Jim Steffe, Joel Johnson, Emil Schroering, the Jim Hohler Family, Kenneth Schnell, Bob Schepers, Mary Rasche, Allen Thewes, Clarence Reckelhoff, Joan Steffe, and Tom Heeke.

K of C free throw
Congratulations to three local athletes who have advanced to the regional round of the 2020 Good Shepherd of the Hills Knights of Columbus free throw challenge.
The following youth won in their age groups at the District 32 competition held in Jasper on Feb. 2. Competing at the Newburgh regional competition on Feb 16 are Kinley Schnell (9-year-old girls), Carson Beck (10-year-old boys) and Macey Harrison (12-year-old girls). Regional winners will advance to the state championship.
All three students attend Northeast Dubois and began their journey by winning the local round presented by Good Shepherd of the Hills K of C Council #13623 at Dubois Middle School.

D of I Jasper Circle 140
The Daughters of Isabella Jasper Circle 140 will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, in Room 301, St. Joseph Parish Center.
Membership dues for 2020 are now payable. The dues are $20. Members with last names A through K are asked to send their $20 check with a stamped, self-addressed envelope to Betty Mehringer, 1744 W. Ackerman Road, Jasper, while members with last names L through Z are asked to send their check and envelope to Chris Schuetter, 2452 N. Mill St., Jasper.

D of I card party
Daughters of Isabella Jasper Circle 140 will host their annual card party at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at the Moose Lodge 1175 Family Center, 2507 N Newton St. Admission is $2 per ticket. Participants should bring their own cards and games. Coffee and dessert will be served. Food and drinks will be available.
Class reunion planned
Dubois High School Class of 1975 reunion committee asks classmates to save the date for its 45th class reunion for Saturday, Oct. 3, to be held at the home of Becky and Roch Ubelhor in Schnellville. Contact Kathy Bachman at 812-630-8696 if there are any questions. A formal invitation will be sent in August. The committee asks that members and classmate’s families inform other classmates about this date. Contact Kathy Bachman know if there is a change of information since the last reunion.

NDHS homecoming court
Northeast Dubois High School has announced its homecoming court.
The rescheduled homecoming will be Feb. 14.
Freshman are Aubrey Hostetter, Sara Livingston, Ty Kalb and Gaige Schepers. Sophomores are Atalie Atkins, Riley Beckman, Ethan Danhafer and Evan Smith. Juniors are Frida Hansson, Olivia Rasche, Davide Menghini and Matthew Qualkenbush. Seniors are Adrienne Betz, Shelby Livingston, Haley Reckelhoff, Tanner Beckman, Colby Stafford and Ethan Ziegler.
The senior graduation dinner for seniors and parents will be held Wednesday, Feb. 19, at the Kundek Hall at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. Reservations are needed by Wednesday, Feb. 12.
The Confirmation program will be held for students and sponsors attending the 8 a.m. Mass on Sunday, Feb. 23. Breakfast will be served after Mass in the St. Celestine Dining Hall. The program will conclude at 11:30 a.m. Students are to bring their saint report, sponsor information paperwork, and have all information forms filled out in binders.
K of C meeting notice
The next regular business meeting will be held at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, in the Happy Hour lower level. Any Catholic gentleman interested in learning more about the benefits of becoming a K of C member is welcome to come to the Happy Hour at 7 p.m. prior to the meeting or send an email to email@example.com.
K of C fellowship breakfast
The Good Shepherd of the Hills K of C Council will be sponsoring a fellowship breakfast in the St Celestine Dining Hall following the 8 a.m. mass on Sunday, Feb. 16. All are welcome to join us for some great food and fellowship! The menu will include pancakes, sausage, eggs, German potatoes, biscuits and gravy, and fruit salad. A freewill offering will be taken to help purchase sonogram machines placed throughout Indiana to deter abortions.
There will be a very important meeting for all eighth-grade students and their parent(s) at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, in the high school cafeteria. Graduation requirements, graduation pathways, diploma options and the course request process for the class of 2024 will be discussed. During the school day on Feb. 21, eighth-grade students will be visiting the high school for freshmen orientation.
