There will be a Good Shephard of the Hills Knights of Columbus officers’ meeting at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, in the St. Celestine Dining Hall. The next regular business meeting will be held at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, in the Happy Hour Sports Bar and Grill basement. Any Catholic gentleman interested in learning more about the benefits of becoming a K of C member is welcome to come to Happy Hour at 7 p.m. prior to the meeting or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Bishop Joseph M. Siegel will dedicate the renovated St. Benedict Cathedral with a Mass at 2 p.m. CT Wednesday, Nov. 6. The Mass also will serve as the kickoff for the celebration of the Diocese of Evansville’s 75th anniversary. Some open seating will be available for the Mass on a first-come, first-served basis. A reception will follow the Mass. The St. Isidore Parish office will be closed at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, to allow staff to attend the Mass of Dedication at St. Benedict Cathedral in Evansville.
A Streetfest 2020 planning meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, in the Happy Hour Sports Bar & Grill basement. Streetfest 2020 will be held Saturday, June 27.
Someone from all areas of the fest should attend to give a brief report on their plans and needs for the 2020 event. If you want to get involved with helping plan the fest for 2020, this would be a great meeting to attend and step up to help keep this amazing fest going.
This will be the last meeting of 2019, with monthly meetings to resume in January.
Items on the agenda include event goal setting and brainstorming, schedule review and brainstorming, entertainment discussion, new event ideas and brainstorming, chairperson and committee reports, openings for new committees and open call for new ideas and suggestions.
A First Communion parent meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, in the St. Celestine Hall. Parents are asked to please return the sacramental paper for the parent meeting. If students were not baptized at St. Raphael Catholic Church or St. Celestine Catholic Church, they are asked to bring a copy from the parish in which they were baptized.
On Wednesday, Nov. 13, there will be a parent meeting for those receiving the sacrament of Confirmation. It will begin at 7:45 p.m. in St. Celestine Church. Also that evening on Nov. 13, there will be a Confirmation program with the 10th grade students from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. in St. Celestine Hall.
The Community Food Bank, 1404 Meridian Road, Jasper, will be accepting donations of frozen turkeys, non-perishable items, aluminum roaster pans and monetary gifts from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10. Let’s make sure everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving.
The Celestine Elementary PTO will have planning meeting for the end-of-year celebration at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, at the Celestine Elementary School. Anyone wanting to give input or volunteer may attend.
Grades seven and eight: Youth group meetings for junior high students will be held on the first Wednesday of the month at the St. Celestine Campus starting at 5:30 p.m.
Grades nine through 12: Youth group Meetings for high school students will be held the second Wednesday of the month at the St. Celestine Campus, starting at 5:30 p.m.
A National Catholic Youth Conference meeting for students and parents will be held at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at St. Celestine Hall.
Catholic Heart Work Camp will be June 21 through 26 in Nashville, Tennessee. The first 20 to sign up and pay will have a spot held. They will then start a waiting list. Scholarships are available.
Cookie walk, tree lighting
Mark your calendars and plan to attend the community of Celestine’s annual cookie walk and Christmas tree lighting on Sunday, Dec. 1. The organizers are excited about 2019 activities and remind all that this is a great way to kick off the holiday season in Celestine.
Christmas D of I meal
The Jasper Circle 140 Daughters of Isabella will host its Christmas dinner on Monday, Dec. 9, at St. Joseph Parish Center in Jasper. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with a dinner being served at 6:30 p.m.
Cost of the meal is $8 per member, $10 per guest. Reservations should be made by Monday, Nov. 25, by calling Vice Regent Kathy Schneider at 812-630-2616 or Financial Secretary Betty Mehringer at 812-482-3661. Dues for 2020 also may be paid at the dinner.
The circle will meet for their monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, in Room 301, St. Joseph Parish Center, Jasper.
