Holy Land Pilgrimage

Join Fr. Cris Adongo and Fr. Jeff Read on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Jesus was born in Bethlehem, grew up in Nazareth and was crucified at Golgotha.

Participants will be seeing all these places and much more. The pilgrimage will give everyone the opportunity of walking in the footsteps of Jesus, our Blessed Mother and the first disciples.

Breakfast, game day

Everyone is welcome to join together for some great fellowship and food after the First Friday Mass at 8 a.m. at St. Celestine. A buffet breakfast will be served at the Happy Hour Bar and Grill Restaurant followed by Game Day at St. Celestine Dining Hall.

Flu shots

Flu shots are being offered after the Masses on Sunday, Sept. 22. Shots will take place at 8 a.m. in St. Celestine Catholic Church’s cry room and at 10 a.m. in St. Raphael Catholic Church’s basement. Insurance cards will be needed. Blood sugar and blood pressure checks are offered for free.

Community yard sales

The Celestine community fall yard sales will be held Sept. 27 and 28. Anyone interested in having a yard sale can contact Kristy Buechler at 812-481-2251 no later than Monday, Sept. 23, in order to get the location on the map.

Family of the Month

The Good Shepherd of the Hills Knights of Columbus Council has nominated the Derek and Valerie Schmitt family as Family of the Month for September for their service to the parish and local community.

K of C meeting

There will be a Knights of Columbus officers’ meeting at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, in the St. Celestine Catholic Church Dining Hall. A regular business meeting will be held at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, in the Happy Hour Sports Bar & Grill basement.

Any Catholic gentleman interested in learning more about the benefits of becoming a K of C member is welcome to come to Happy Hour at 7 p.m. prior to the meeting or send an email to council13623@indianakofc.org.

D of I Jasper Circle 140

The Daughters of Isabella Jasper Circle 140 will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, in Room 301 of the St. Joseph Parish Center in Jasper.

The D of I Jasper Circle 140 will be conducting their dressing sale this fall. Orders can be placed through Saturday, Oct. 19, by calling Kathy Schneider at 812-630-2616 or Betty Mehringer at 812-482-3661. Cost is $15 per gallon; half gallon is $8. The dressing is prepared raw, not baked and with no sage added.  Pick up will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at the St. Joseph Parish Center, Jasper.

Sept. 2: Labor Day, no school.

Sept. 12-13: Grandparents’ Day at Celestine Elementary.

Sept. 18-19: Grandparents’ Day at Dubois Elementary School.

Dubois Ruritan Septemberfest

Make plans to attend the 18th annual Dubois Ruritan Septemberfest Friday and Saturday, Aug. 30 and 31, at the Dubois Community Park. Fried chicken and rib dinners, sandwiches and drinks will be served both nights. The fest offers a craft and vendor fair, theme baskets, face painting, no cover charge, balloon creations and a wide variety of musical entertainment. The Ruritan Club invites all to come see their completed Dubois Community Park Center.                                                               Submitted items
