The Celestine Community Club will host Rusty Bladen and the Unstoppables Band on Saturday, May 4. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Chicken and pork tenderloin dinners will be sold from the kitchen. The band will play, beginning at 8 p.m. A $5 cover charge for the dance will be charged. All attending must be 21 years of age. The club asks that payment be made with cash only (no credit cards).

Mother’s Day remembrances

Mother’s Day remembrances are due to the parish office by this Monday, May 6.

The rosary will be prayed every Wednesday in May at 6 p.m. on the Rosary Trail at the St. Raphael Campus. All are welcome to join.

Mother’s Day carnation sale

The annual Carnation Sale will be next weekend after all Masses. Volunteers from Dubois County Right to Life will again be selling carnations in celebration of Mother’s Day. Carnations are $1 each or six for $5. Proceeds go to assisting pregnancies in Dubois County (Matrix Lifeline).

Golf scramble scholarship

A golf scramble to benefit the Northeast Dubois Endowment Scholarship will be Sunday, June 23, with a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start at Sultan’s Run Golf Course. It is a four-person scramble. Cost is $62 per player; it includes all fees and one mulligan. Teams will be handicapped (limited to the first 30). 4-H club meetings

Celestine Leaders of Tomorrow and Celestine All Stars will have a meeting from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 13, at the Celestine Community Club.

K of C meetings

Jan Blackgrave benefit

A benefit for Jan Blackgrave is planned with Ridetech/ACMS sponsoring its annual benefit car show. The event will be from 1 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at 350 S. St. Charles St., Jasper. Bake sale items and raffle tickets will be available.

Jan was recently diagnosed with cancer that has spread to her lungs. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy while pursuing her medical options.

Anyone wanting to donate a bake sale item may take them to the St. Celestine Hall kitchen from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, May 10, or to the bake sale stand during the car show.

Graduation breakfast

St. Isidore Parish graduation breakfast will be served at 8:45 a.m. Sunday, May 19, in the St. Celestine Dining Hall.

Graduates will receive a special blessing at all Masses the weekend of May 18 and 19. Afterward, the St. Anne’s Sodality will host a free breakfast for eighth grade, high school and college graduates and their family members. The parish wishes to congratulate you on your accomplishments and wish you well in your future plans.

Breakfast reservations are needed for the food count. Forms are listed on the church bulletin.  Place reservation information in the collection basket by the May 11-12 weekend or return it to the parish office by 10 a.m. Monday, May 13. If college graduates will not be attending breakfast but wish to be listed in the bulletin insert, they may still fill out the information that is listed on the church bulletin and return it by Monday, May 13.

Ride to Remember

Southwest Indiana Patriot Guard will have its annual Ride to Remember Sunday, May 19.

They plan to arrive at St. Raphael Catholic Church at approximately 12:30 p.m. for their tribute to CPL Eric Lueken and SFC Dave Moore. They will then proceed to Celestine for a tribute to LCPL Alec Terwiske at approximately 2 p.m. Full details can be found at www.swinrtr.org.

Following the service, a blessing of motorcycles will take place at approximately 1:15 p.m. Everyone is invited to come out for this special blessing.

Grace Grub Junior

Grace Grub Junior is organized each year by the Grace Co-op. This project includes donated pantry food given to qualified students for the summer months. This year we are opening it up to support students in all grades who qualify for free or reduced lunches at school. If you and your family or any group or organization is interested in donating to this project, contact a Grace Co-op member by Wednesday, May 1. Each child receives approximately $50 worth of select pantry foods. Sign-up sheets are located at the main entrance of each church. Parish bus trip

The parish will visit Bardstown, Kentucky, on Tuesday, June 25. Participants will visit Heaven Hill Distillery and Bourbon Heritage Center and The Basillica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral. The trip will continue with dinner at The Old Talbott Tavern and end with the “Stephen Foster Story” at the outdoor amphitheater in My Old Kentucky Home State Park.

Bardstown and the area surrounding it are often referred to as “The Kentucky Holy Land.” The basilica was a cathedral in the early days of Bardstown history. The distillery offers tours and tasting. The Old Talbott Tavern is the oldest stagecoach stop in America; it has been open continuously for 240 years. Forty of the 50 songs written by Stephen Foster will be performed in the evening musical.

The cost for the day is $95 and includes the bus fare, dinner, all admissions, taxes and tips. Of this amount, $50 will be non-refundable, but transferable. The bus will leave Celestine around 10:30 a.m. and return around midnight. Specific information will be forthcoming. Jasper-Dubois Road, Jasper IN 47546 or dropped off at the parish office.

Celestine Streetfest Super 5K

Celestine Streetfest Super 5K is planned for Saturday, June 29. Registration begins at 8 a.m.The start will be at the St. Celestine Parish Center. The course is 5 miles. Registation forms are available at the main church entrances or on the website at www.celestineindiana.com.
