Northeast Dubois Corp. schools are in session on Monday to make up for a snow day on Feb. 1.
Northeast Dubois High School students are collecting plastic bottle caps. Caps may be dropped off at school or sent with a student.
Senior graduate dinner
The Class of 2019 will be honored Wednesday, Feb. 20, at St. Joseph Parish Center, Jasper. The doors open at 6 p.m. with dinner being served at 6:30 p.m. All area high school seniors and their parents are invited. A program will follow until 9 p.m. with breakout panel discussions for senior students and their parents.
Return reservations to Glenda Reckelhoff at St. Isidore Parish Center by Wednesday, Feb. 13.
Everyone is invited to Game Night from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at St. Celestine Dining Hall. Bring your own board games to play with others. The event is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. Snacks and drinks will be available.
Youth Appeal Weekend
Youth Appeal Weekend is Feb. 23-24. A second collection will be taken at all Masses next weekend to support the different opportunities for youth to attend to become more active in their faith and parish. Due to youth appeal, Haiti Weekend will take place this weekend on Saturday and Sunday.
Ash Wednesday schedule
It is not too early to think about Lent.
Mass Times will be Wednesday, March 6 at 6:45 a.m. at St. Raphael Church, noon at St. Celestine Church and 6 p.m. at St. Celestine Church. There will be Wednesday evening Religion Education classes from 7 to 8 p.m. on that day.
Friday Mass change
During Lent Father will say Mass at 6 a.m. on Fridays, March 8, 15, 22, 29 and April 12. The First Friday Mass on April 5 will be held at 8 a.m. due to other First Friday activities.
After Lent, the Friday Mass will return to 8 a.m.
Voice solo winner
The Academy for Innovative Studies Diamond in Evansville hosted the Indiana State School Music Association for Voice Solo and Ensemble on Feb. 2. Adrienne Betz, daughter of Michael and Christine Betz, earned a Gold Division (superior) ranking. She advanced to the State Solo and Ensemble Festival to be held in Indianapolis.
January Kindness Board
Students named to the kindness board were Tanner Beckman, Taylor Dodd, Kaden Breeding, Sasha Worley and Kaitlynn Mundy.
Current eighth-grade students and parents please note: On the evening of Thursday, Feb. 21, at 6:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria, there will be a very important freshman orientation meeting for all eighth-grade students and their parent(s). During the school day, on Feb. 22, eighth-grade students will be visiting the high school.
There is a cook position open in the Northeast Dubois High School cafeteria. Hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. daily. If interested in more information, contact Joyce Hulsman at 812-678-2251, ext. 285, or 812-639-9441.
Post-prom meetings will be held in the high school library at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 11, Feb. 25, March 4, March 18 and April 1. Meetings will also be held April 8-12; the time will be announced later.

D of I card party
The Jasper Daughters of Isabella Circle 140 will hold its card party on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the Moose Family Center in Jasper. Doors open at 6 p.m. Admission is $2 per ticket. Food and drinks will be available for purchase from the Moose kitchen during dinner hours. Coffee and dessert will be served midway through the evening. Everyone should bring their own cards and games.
Any girl, ages 4-13, who is interested in playing in the Northeast Dubois Youth Softball League may still sign up. Call 812-639-7304 or 812-630-2221 by March 3.
Community yard sales
The Celestine community spring yard sales will be held April 26-27. Call Kristy Buechler at 812-481-2251 no later than Monday, April 22, in order to get locatione on the map.
St. Isidore fish fries
A fish fry will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 15, at the St. Celestine Campus. The fish fry will be held until all 600 plates are gone. Dine-in, drive-through or carryout will be available. The meal will feature fish, German fries, bread, slaw and dessert at $10 a plate.
Good Shepherd of the Hills Knights of Columbus will sponsor a fish fry from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, April 12. Drive-through begins at 6 p.m.
1984 boys basketball
Northeast Dubois High School will honor the 1984 team after the 6 p.m. junior varsity game verses Loogootee High School on Friday, Feb. 15. The 1984 Jeeps won the Southridge sectional and the Washington regional. Can you believe it has been 35 years ago when the Jeeps made that run?
Coaches of the team included John Church, varsity; Rick Gladish, junior varsity; Gary Redman, assistant; and Gary Bair, Gene “Butch” Bonifer and Duane Denu, grade school.
Players were Kevin Breitweiser, Brian Cockerham, Kenny Egler, Tim Hall, Rod Hemmerlein, Mike Steffe, Bruce Terwiske, Bob Stenftenagel, Glen Englert, John Schott, Daron Cave (deceased), Scott Pieper and Duane Rasche. Managers were Gene Eisenhut, Angie (Ernst) Schuch, Giesla (Knies) Schepers.
Cheerleaders were Nancy (Knies) Wilson, Missy (Buchta) Krempp, Joanie Summers, Nancy (Lueken) Friedman and Kay (Krodel) Freyberger.
