Come support St. Isidore Parish Youth by participating in Trivia Night on Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Celestine Community Club. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and trivia will start at 7 p.m.
Call the parish office at 812-634-1875 to preregister teams of six or eight. Cost is $15 per person.
All proceeds benefit the Youth Appeal. A cash bar and snacks will be available.
All are invited to the fellowship breakfast on Sunday, Jan. 13, at the St. Celestine Dining Hall, following the 8 a.m. Mass.
The Good Shepherd of the Hills Knights of Columbus Council is sponsoring the breakfast and promises good food and fellowship. Foods being served are pancakes, sausage, eggs, German potatoes, biscuits, gravy and fruit salad.
A freewill offering will be taken to help purchase sonogram machines to deter abortions.
Distinguished Service Award
The Celestine Park Inc. will host the 27th annual Distinguished Service Award at a brunch on Sunday, Feb. 3, in the St. Celestine Dining Hall at 9 a.m., following Mass.
The Celestine Park Inc. would like to recognize individuals nominated by the community who have shown great commitment, pride and dedication. To nominate a Celestine resident, fill out a form and mail to: Celestine Park, Inc., Attention: DSA Chairman, P.O. Box 211, Celestine IN 47521. Forms are available at St. Celestine Church entrances.
All nomination forms must be received no later than Monday, Jan. 14.
Daughters of Isabella
Jasper Circle 140 Daughters of Isabella will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, in Room 301 of the St. Joseph’s Parish Center in Jasper. Membership dues for 2019 are now payable. Members A-K are asked to send their $15 check, with a stamped, self-addressed envelope to Betty Mehringer, 1744 W. Pilgrimage For Life
Pray for St. Isidore Parish students and adults as they travel to Washington, D.C., this week. They will attend Mass with the Bishop at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. Everyone is welcome to attend this Mass. They will leave after Mass and return on Sunday, Jan. 20.
Congratulations to the winner of the religious education quilt sweepstakes for December. Dolores Brosmer won the $200 cash prize. Thanks to all who purchased tickets for the sweepstakes. The next drawing will be the last weekend in January.
The Good Shepherd of the Hills Knights of Columbus council is hosting a free-throw competition on Sunday, Jan. 21, at the Dubois Middle School gymnasium. Doors open for registration at 12:30 p.m., with the competition set to start at 1 p.m.
There is no cost to participate and the competition is open to any boy or girl in the local area between the ages of 9 and 14 as of Jan. 1. A random drawing will be held for attendance prizes.
There will be divisions for each age group, with separate groups for boys and girls. The winner will be presented with a trophy and advance to district K of C competition in February. We have had past winners advance and win the state competition!

The public is invited to the Celestine Community Club’s annual First Friday Night Sheephead tourneys. The tourneys will take place Fridays, Feb. 1 and March 1. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and play will begin at 7 p.m. Food and refreshments will be served. Another tourney is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 27. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., with the tourney beginning at noon.
Preschool: Registration will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24. This is an informational meeting for parents only.
Kindergarten round-up: An informational meeting for parents only will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at Celestine Elementary and at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Dubois Elementary.
Northeast Dubois High School
Attention senior parents: The deadline for the senior ads for the yearbook will be extended to Thursday, Jan. 31.

St. Isidore Youth Director news
The high school youth group will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at St. Raphael Campus. Food will be served. Accommodations will be made for youths needing a ride back to St. Celestine Catholic Church.
Catholic Heart Work Camp
Catholic Heart Work Camp will be held from June 16 through 22 in Louisville. The cost is $410 (participant pays $165; Youth Appeal pays remaining $250). The registration deadline is March 1.
There are 20 student spots, with 14 currently available. The spots go on a first-come, first-served basis. Contact Connie Matheis for an entry form and turn the fee in to reserve a spot. CHWC is about service, connection and loving others. CHWC provides service opportunities to restore homes and hearts, feed the hungry, lift the spirits of children, bring joy to the elderly and disabled and offer assistance while partnering with social agencies.
After the March 15 deadline, the remaining spots will be forfeited in order for the deposit to be returned.
Teens Encounter Christ
Teens Encounter Christ is a three-day experience for young people who are searching for goals, acceptance, meaning and for community. Adults also are welcome and encouraged to attend as they increase their witness to their faith while experiencing their own encounter with Christ. Participants must be age 16 and older and at least a junior in high school.
The next weekends are Feb. 16-18, July 20-22 and Nov. 9-11. Return applications to the parish office as soon as possible. Youth Appeal pays the fee.
