ODON — An Otwell man was formally charged with felony impaired driving this week on the heels of a recent traffic stop in Daviess County.
The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office reports responding at 3:53 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, to the report of a white Nissan pickup truck swerving, stopping and backing up in the middle of the roadway on I-69 around the 75-mile marker south of the Odon exit.
A deputy located the truck and conducted a traffic stop at the 70.5-mile marker. Police allege the driver, Donald J. Jenkins, 43, 3135 N. Pike County Road 850E, Otwell, exhibited signs of intoxication and had a blood alcohol content that tested .270 during testing at Daviess Community Hospital.
Authorities booked Jenkins into the Daviess County Jail.
On Tuesday, Jenkins was formally charged in Daviess Superior Court with Level 6 felony operating while intoxicated. The impaired driving charge was elevated to a felony because of a previous conviction for the offense within the last five years.
