Optimists, museum partner for storytime

The Dubois County Museum announces a new partnership with the Optimist Club of Jasper. Three years ago, the museum began its children’s storytime program with the goal to provide the youth of Dubois County an interactive educational experience at the museum. It is this vision that attracted the Optimist Club of Jasper to the storytime program.

Storytime at the Dubois County Museum, sponsored by the Optimist Club of Jasper, is a program designed for families with pre-school age children (ages 2 through 6) that encourages free play and exploration throughout the museum, thus bringing the history of the county to life.

By partnering with the Optimist Club of Jasper the museum is able to enhance this key program with additional interactive activities and reach more children in the county.

Storytime at the museum takes place on the second Saturday of each month. The next event begins at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 13, with Carrie Holdsworth from Little Spruce Nature School again joining the volunteers and reading. The theme is fishing.

The museum, at 2704 N. Newton St., is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays. The museum is closed Mondays. For more information, call 634-7733 or visit www.duboiscountymuseum.org. The museum is also on Facebook and Twitter.
