Optimist Club, high school honor students

The Santa Claus Optimist Club and Heritage Hills High School hosted the 48th annual academic banquet on Monday, March 9.

The club annually sponsors this celebratory event which recognizes the current 10 percent rank in each grade. A meal, prepared by the cafeteria staff for the honorees and their invited guests, was served by the Optimist Club members in the cafeteria.

The awards ceremony followed in the high school auditorium. The Heritage Hills Patriot Elite Choir, under the direction of Laura Staffeld, provided the entertainment. Senior class representative, Shelby Miller, and Optimist State Lt. Governor Karleen Haas addressed the audience.

Honored underclassmen received a certificate of recognition. Each senior representative received an engraved plaque and then presented a framed certificate of appreciation to an individual chosen as a positive influence in the student’s life. The program concluded with the recitation of the Optimist Creed.

The Heritage Hills High School honored students were as follows.

Seniors: Nicholas Brinkman, Madison Detzer, Emma Eubank, Wesley Fleischmann, Destinee Heneisen, Miranda Keller, Shelby Miller, Noah Mundy, Ethan Roos, Kiersten Schuler, Cole Sigler, Mallory Tempel and Hayley Waninger.

Juniors: Nevah Barnett, Grant Gogel, Rebekah Gordon, Kyndall Jordan, Sarah Mangan, Rachel Martin, Kenley Mulzer, Emily Patmore, Christopher Peter, Kyla Peter, Owen Rahman, Abigail Ruxer and Erik Thomas.

Sophomores: Timothy Eubank, Liz Gehlhausen, Daniel Goodrich, Sophia Greenwood, Emma Haefling, Claire Lange, Grace Mangan, Olivia Mick, Ella Schnieders, Lauren Sisley, Shelby Skelton, Owen Vinson, Hope Willard, Abigail Wilson and Nathan Windell.

Freshmen: Charles Brentlinger, Lanae Canen, Kyleigh Collins, Samantha Crosby, Emma Day, Kevin Dilger, Bridget Flannagan, Hayden Gogel, Jenna McDowell, Elliot Rahman, Jillian Tretter, Avery Vinson, Patrick Walters and Shelby Winkler.
