Ohio artist wins Best of Show

Winners for the 26th annual Juried Art Exhibit at the Krempp Gallery, Jasper Arts Center, were announced at the awards ceremony and reception Sept. 5.
Best of Show went to Carolyn Thompson of Akron, Ohio, for her painting, “Dr. Bob’s Home.” Other local and regional winners were Katherine Fries, Indianapolis; Lawrence Baker, Cleveland Heights, Ohio; Bill Whorrall, Shoals; Robert Schwieger, Plainfield; Wyatt LeGrand, Bloomfield; Debrah Butler, Kent, Ohio; and Marti Plager, Louisville.
The show’s judge was Edward Trover, Terre Haute artist and curator of Collections and Exhibitions at the Sheldon Swope Art Museum. To ensure fairness, judging is made without identifying the artists.
The exhibit will remain up through Friday, Sept. 27. Krempp Gallery hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursdays and noon to 3 p.m. Sundays. Admission is free.
