Officials: Portersville-area fire intentionally set

From Local Sources

PORTERSVILLE — An investigation into a Friday afternoon fire at an unoccupied house south of Portersville determined it had been intentionally set, according to Fire Chief John Fuhrman.

The Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office had been called in to investigate the 3:06 p.m. fire at 5726 N. Portersville Road. Members of the Haysville Volunteer Fire Department were at the scene just over two hours.

Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office Communications Manager Amber Kemp confirmed today the fire had been ruled as being intentionally set and it was not thought to have been a random act. The investigation is ongoing and the fire marshal’s office will be working with local law enforcement, Kemp indicated.
