Officer shoots person in struggle on Indiana street

WARSAW — Authorities say a police officer shot and wounded a 31-year-old man during a struggle along a street in northern Indiana.

State police say the Warsaw Police Department responded Wednesday night to a report of an unknown person at a house and the man left before officers arrived. The man, identified by police as Kyle Miller of Warsaw, was spotted trying to get into passing cars before encountering the officer.

Police say the officer attempted to stop the man with a stun gun, but it didn’t have an effect, and the officer shot him in the right arm. Miller is being held at the Kosciusko County Jail on a preliminary charge of resisting law enforcement. It wasn’t immediately known whether he had a lawyer.

The officer is on paid administrative leave.
