Oakland City man arrested for sex offense

OAKLAND CITY — Indiana State Police arrested an Oakland City man Saturday for allegedly having had a sexual relationship with a female under the age of 16.

Police said the investigation launched Jan. 14 revealed Brett Williams, 22, of Oakland City, had a sexual relationship with the female and was aware she was under the age of 16. The crime occurred between Jan. 1 and 3, police alleged.

The Gibson County Prosecutor’s Office reviewed the investigation and issued a warrant for Williams’ arrest. On Saturday afternoon, Williams was arrested at his residence without incident. Williams was taken to the Gibson County Jail on the warrant charging him with Level 4 felony sexual misconduct with a minor.

The Oakland City Police Department assisted.
