From Local Sources

JASPER — Fifth Third Bank plans to close its north-side location, located on the east side of U.S. 231 just north of 36th Street, this summer.

In a letter to customers, bank officials announced the closing of the branch, 3650 N. Newton St., as a consolidation.

“Effective Tuesday, July 17, 2018, our Jasper North Banking Center will be consolidating with the Jasper South Banking Center,” P. Brian Moore, Fifth Third’s senior vice president, wrote in the letter dated April 13. He did not include an explanation of why the location was closing.

The north banking center will operate until 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, according to the letter.

Besides the south banking center in Jasper, the closest branches will be in Santa Claus and Oakland City. The bank also has several branches in Evansville and several ATMs, including fee-free Allpoint ATMs, in Jasper, Huntingburg, Ferdinand.
