Nominations sought for Athena Award

JASPER — The Rotary Club of Jasper will host its eighth Athena International Award presentation at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22. Sue Ellspermann, president of Ivy Tech of Indiana, will be the keynote speaker.

Ellspermann was Indiana’s 50th lieutenant governor and started in her public service career as a state representative for District 74.

The program inspires women to reach their full potential and strives to create balance in leadership worldwide.

Past recipients of the award were Kim Messmer in 2018, Tonya Heim in 2017, Connie Nass in 2016, Nancy Eckerle in 2015, Kathy Tretter in 2014, Brenda Stallings in 2013 and Jane Chappell in 2012.

Nominations for the local Athena Award will be accepted until Wednesday, May 1. Nomination forms may be downloaded at www.jasperrotary.com  and finalists for the 2019 award will be announced by May 15. All finalists will be honored at the presentation dinner on Aug. 22 at The Huntingburg Event Center.
