Next Act announces Astra Theatre events

JASPER — The Next Act announced the schedule of events for the second half of the 2021 season at the historic Astra Theatre. It has been a quiet 16 months since the facilities were shuttered due to the pandemic, but it is now ready to bring live entertainment back to the Jim & Pat Thyen Performance Stage.

Local band StyReo will kick things off with a live performance on Saturday, Aug. 21. This Jasper-based band brings all the best of Styx and REO.

Bluesy, rocking and thoroughly Southern American musician Paul Thorn is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 11.

A yet-to-be-announced movie will play on Friday, Sept. 17, in conjunction with the Heart of Jasper Farm to Table event.

On Saturday, Sept. 25, American rock & roll artist Will Hoge will take to the stage.

In conjunction with the Beehive Arts Market, a yet-to-be-announced movie will be screened on Friday, Oct. 8.

The always entertaining Rock Lotto will take over the Astra Theatre on Saturday, Nov. 20.

Finally, two Christmas movies will finish out the second half of the 2021 season. A yet-to-be-announced movie geared toward kids will be shown on Saturday, Dec. 4, while a more adult Christmas movie will play on Saturday, Dec. 18.

The historic Astra Theatre is located in the heart of downtown Jasper. Newly renovated with 357 seats, the Astra has main level and balcony seating with a concessions stand offering snacks and drinks that are available for purchase during the events.
