New road in Santa Claus to ease trafficJuly 13, 2018
From Local Sources
SANTA CLAUS — Santa Claus is adding a new road on the town’s west side to connect Highway 162 to Highway 245.
The road will be named Philip J. Koch Drive.
The new road will be located about a half mile west of Louis J. Koch Boulevard and will give residents an alternate route to avoid heavy traffic. The new road will also incorporate a biking and hiking trail that will connect to the town’s trail system.
Land for the project was donated to the town by the estate of Phillip Koch.
Ragel Construction of Newburgh was awarded the $1.3 million project. After federal grant money, however, the town will pay $264,174.90 for the project.
The project is anticipated to be completed in late fall to early winter.
