National Day of Prayer goes online

The National Day of Prayer is Thursday, May 7. In 1988, President Ronald Reagan signed into law a resolution establishing the first Thursday in May as National Day of Prayer. The president of the United States and the governors are urging people to pray for the country and its leaders. The Dubois County Commissioners have issued such a proclamation as well.

Due to the Covid-19 virus, the annual event normally held at the Dubois County Courthouse will not occur. Instead, the Dubois County event will be broadcast on Facebook Live, starting at 6 p.m. Go to the National Day of Prayer-Dubois County Facebook Page at People may also go to Victory Assembly of God’s website at

The non-partisan event will include special music by the Victory Assembly of God praise team, prayers for the nation and its leaders led by local area pastors, and comments by special guests and government officials.

There also will be a national observance live broadcast from 8 to 10 p.m. on the National Day of website.
