Museum announces Saturday storytime

JASPER — Continuing the popularity of the Storytime on Tuesday program, the Dubois County Museum, 2704 N. Newton St., announces Storytime on Saturday.

On the second Saturday of the month from Oct. 13 through May 11, the museum volunteers welcome children ages preschool to second grade to storytime. In this hour or so, the children will hear stories centered on a particular theme and be invited to create and enjoy crafts and activities. It all takes place in or around the children’s area of the museum.

Volunteers will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the stories after which children and their families are invited to participate in the crafts and activities. The families are then free to explore and enjoy the museum at their own pace. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

In June the museum will resume Storytime on Tuesdays.

The Dubois County Museum is one of the largest county museums in Indiana, featuring 50,000 square feet of exhibits with over 9,000 pieces of the 41,000 piece collection on display. Admission is charged. The admission price is $5 per adult, $3 per high school student, $2 per middle and elementary school, and those under the age of 4 are free.

A membership to the Dubois County Museum admits membership holders in for free. A 2019 membership is now on sale and will be good for the rest of 2018 and all of 2019, expiring on Dec. 31, 2019.  Memberships are sold at the admission desk in the museum.
