JASPER — The man charged in the Jan. 11 murder of Chloie E. Lubbehusen, 23, Huntingburg, was back in court today for a pretrial hearing prior to his jury trial next month.
Last week, Dubois Circuit Court Judge Nathan Verkamp had ruled on a prosecution motion to push back the May 13 trial date, denying it along with a defense motion for a change of venue in the murder case against Kyle D. Schneider, 27, 2010 Lincoln Drive, Huntingburg.
In court today, Verkamp confirmed the May 13 trial date and imposed a 10-day deadline for the parties to file any additional pretrial motions. Verkamp also scheduled a hearing for 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, at which time he will rule on all existing and potential forthcoming pretrial motions.
Lubbehusen was found stabbed and bleeding on the porch of a residence in the 5800 block of County Road 650E near St. Anthony on Jan. 11. She later succumbed to her wounds at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.
Police located and arrested Schneider in a garage at the scene.
