Motorist in drive-thru accused of OWI

JASPER — A report early today of an unresponsive motorist in a restaurant drive-thru lane resulted in an impaired driving arrest.
The Jasper Police Department was called to the McDonald’s at 450 S. U.S. 231 at 1:19 a.m.
Officers made contact with Michelle K. Wiertel, 29, 4323 W. Anya Court, Jasper, who was driving a 2014 Toyota RAV4.
Police who alleged Wiertel showed signs of intoxication said her blood alcohol content later tested .147% at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.
Authorities booked Wiertel into the Dubois County Security Center at 5 a.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated.
