ROCKPORT — A Spencer County man was formally charged last week with impaired-driving-related charges.
The charges filed in Spencer Circuit Court against Joseph A. Kost, 57, 1144 E. Spencer County Road 750N, Chrisney, stem from a traffic stop on State Road 66 by the Spencer County Sheriff’s Office the evening of May 15, according to court documents.
A deputy who had just cited Kost three days before for driving while suspended (prior) initiated a traffic stop for improper display of a license plate renewal sticker and determined he had an open container and was impaired.
Police said Kost failed field sobriety testing in the sally port of the Spencer County Jail and had a blood alcohol content that tested .09%.
Last week, Kost was formally charged with Level 6 felony operating while intoxicated and misdemeanor driving while suspended (prior). He was also cited for an open container violation, no insurance, expired plates, a registration violation and operating a motor vehicle with false and fictitious plates.
