Motorist escapes injury in SUV-vs-deer collision

BIRDSEYE — No injuries were reported after an SUV-versus-deer collision Wednesday morning at Birdseye.

Carol A. Bruner, 58, Birdseye, was westbound on State Road 64 in a 2009 Volkswagen Tiguan when the 5:15 a.m. accident occurred 500 feet west of State Road 145, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.

A deputy said a deer ran into the driver’s side of the Tiguan, leaving dents. The damage was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.

The sheriff’s department was unable to locate the deer and the SUV was able to be driven from the scene.
