IRELAND — One motorist was cited after a passenger-car-versus-SUV collision Thursday afternoon on Ireland’s west side.
Rose A. Nixon, 69, Celestine, was entering State Road 56 from Schitter Drive at the time of the 2:55 p.m. mishap, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
Nixon pulled onto the eastbound lane of the highway but entered in front of an oncoming eastbound vehicle that would not avoid colliding with the rear of her 2006 Pontiac Vibe.
The other eastbound vehicle was a 2011 Mercedes Benz GLK350 driven by Jacob P. Davis, 18, Washington, according to the sheriff’s office.
Both vehicles were believed to be total losses, with damage estimated between $10,000 and $25,000.
A Bob Luegers Motors wrecker assisted at the scene.
A deputy cited Nixon for failure to yield the right of way.
